“I have left the children with a suitable sitter and Cerberus. Take me out on a date.”
“…That poor sitter. Heh, very well then, let me just get cleaned up and we can go.”
Vergil noticed Shiro seemed a little hesitant, and it stung a little, but he didn’t let it show on his face. He couldn’t blame her for not jumping right in – just because HE didn’t have any real memory of being missing, didn’t mean she didn’t either.
“It will be fun, and the weather is perfect lately,” he agreed. The private beach trip could wait, this one was for family. “Even the dog might enjoy it.” Cerberus was a member of the family, even if he drooled, so Vergil knew better than to leave him out. Plus the extra security for the children would be nice.
“I had fun tonight. Thank you for coming out here with me.”
“The twins haven’t been to the beach since they were toddlers.” She leaned against him, previous subject forgotten. “There were chances with school, but I was always too busy to volunteer to chaperone and couldn’t let them go.”
She lightly prodded him the side with a talon. “Not my idea of a date, but I admit I had fun kicking your ass,” she chuckled. “I’m the one that forced you out, so thank you for indulging me.”
